Although the summer months may be long over, for some enjoying the warm weather in the South (or even in the North), there is always an opportunity for cruising down the boulevard in a sleek car. In 2015, there were a lot of stylish, amazing coupes put on the market by some of the most famous names in the auto business. This past year was a big one for the classic cars, and the stylishness of the vehicles is just as admirable and heavy-hitting as their safety and quality. Based on customer reviews, as well as manufacturer and auto industry opinions, we’ve compiled a list of the top ten automobile coupes for 2015 that will be sure to make your mouth water. But first, before we get to the list, it’s important to knowwhat exactly makes a car a “coupe.”

All about cars Coupes

Coupes (not to be confused with the infamous coup d'etat, of course) are two-door or four-door cars that are closed and, when coupes are compared to sedans of the same model, they are smaller. Coupes are distinguished by their body style and hard, fixed roof. Quick history fact: coupes come from the French word “couper,” which means “to cut.” “Couper” was originally used in the nineteenth century to describe carriages in which the seats facing the rear were cut out. Since then, the word has evolved into the chic, glossy coupe that we know today in 2015. In a coupe, there are two or four seats, two or four side doors, limited rear volume, and two or more side windows (certain makes may vary, but these are the basics to the coupe that you’ll find pretty much standard on any model). There are four-door coupes available particularly when it comes to luxury cars. Now that you know what makes a coupe a coupe, here is our list of the top ten coupes of 2015. Starting with number ten all the way to the cream of the crop, we’ll give you the ins and outs of what’s hot in the auto industry with regards to this classic model.

Top Ten Coupes of 2015

10. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

                                                                   Chevrolet Camaro Z28 2015

This ride is a straight-from-the-80’s flashback, except way more technologically advanced. The Z/28 is a “track car,” meaning that it is primed for optimal speed and hard-hitting power. It is lighter than any other coupe you would find, and, when compared to the ZL1, it is over 300 pounds less heavy. It has a 7-Liter V-8 with 505 horsepower. This is as close to a muscle car as something this lightweight can come; it certainly has the endurance of one, but the speed is much greater. The wheels are nineteen inches and the suspension is designed in a different way than most other vehicles, giving the Camaro an extra burst of speed that led it to have an even better track-time than the super-speedy Porsche 911. The Camaro gets 13mpg in the city and 19mpg on the freeway and it can go from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds.

9. 2015 FIAT 500 Abarth

                                                           2015 Fiat Abarth

Compared to #10, theArbath is different because it is a little less high-speed. Also, it’s smaller. For those of us who aren’t into the racetrackelement, this Fiat 500 is perfect. The look is classic and the horsepower is a tidy 101. The inline four-engine on previous Fiats has been updated, and this car has more muscle to it than previous models from the same brand. The manufacturer described these updates as performance-related; making the Fiat a “high-performance city car” while still keeping its sporty look, which has appealed to so many car buyers. It gets 30 miles to the gallon and its top speed was clocked at 129, with a 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds. It is a great car for the city, if you’re looking for something zippy yet not ridiculously fast.

You can also have your choice of gasoline V-6, biturbo V-6, diesel twin-turbo 4-cylinder (BlueTEC), or a biturbo V-8 engine, depending on what your personal preference is. There are also radar sensors and high-tech stereo cameras. There is even a lifesaving feature called “ATTENTION ASSIST” that can sense when you are beginning to doze off and will awaken you in order to prevent a collision.
